I usually do cocktail Fridays, but with some work obligations and some summer trips (I'm currently writing this post from Newport, RI, in fact), this one had to wait a day. And for this cocktail Saturday, I wanted to honor the French holiday of Bastille Day, coming July 14th. So, I made a French 75. Yum!
2 oz gin
1/2 oz lemon juice*
1/4 oz simple syrup*
3 oz champagne
lemon to garnish
*(I substituted the lemon juice and simple syrup for 1 oz Williams-Sonoma yuzu meyer lemon mixer)
Pour first three ingredients into an ice-filled cocktail shaker and shake until chilled. Pour into a glass and top it off with champagne. Add garnish.
Couldn't resist using my Anthropologie "Bonjour Cherie" plate on this French occasion!
Cheers and happy Bastille Day, mes amis!
