Love from the Cape

We are now in the waning days of our summer vacation in Cape Cod, and I wanted to check in quickly since it has been awhile since I've posted.

Hard to believe that we are at the end of August and that autumn sits at our doorstep, dressed in its orange, gold, and reds (oh, and is that jaunty witch hat sitting on its head?). As autumn is my favorite season, and I have lots of things already to look forward to in September and October, I am thrilled that the spooky, mysterious, and stunningly gorgeous season is nearly here, but I am also squeezing out the last bits of golden beauty, warmth, green, and lazy days that summer is offering with its outstretched, tanned hands.  Watching my kids squeal as they lay their warm, dripping bodies on boogie boards in the ocean or sweat under a bright sun as we bike through cranberry bogs along the coast of the cape are just those sunshiny, summer memories that will turn to golden, shiny treasures over the years.  So excuse me for a moment, while I finish soaking it all in, safely tucking these moments away in my mind for future nostalgia. Here's to wishing all of you a wonderful end of summer too!

  1. You are definitely in the right place to enjoy Autumn! My grandparents lived in the Berkshires and I have so many beautiful memories of Autumn days there :)

  6. Love all the imagery! I could see personified Autumn sitting on my doorstep dressed in those marvelous colors! Thank you for this sensory rich post! I have loved summer as well, but I can't wait for fall because I know you'll be posting way more...you can't help it during the holidays! The first leaves started falling this week and I noticed them blowing across the street as I walked with the kids to the library. I got that sweet melancholy end of summer feeling, and smiled that fall is right around the corner with pumpkins, apple orchards, scarecrows, and piles of leaves. Everyday, every season....perfect in New England!
